DirtySnatcha Releases New Single “Found Myself” with Katie Sky

Born and raised in the heart of where dubstep originated, England, DirtySnatcha produces a variety of heavy original tracks ranging from dubstep, to trap, to riddim. His collaborations with artists such as Riot Ten, Rico Act, Lucii, Boogie T, Monxx, Squnto, and more have proven that he is able to produce a variety of music, and that he can appeal to bass heads from all ages and areas of the world. His latest track “Found Myself” is an introspective look at how love can help us find ourselves.

This track shows another side of DirtySnatcha’s producing ability. Typically he has created hard-hitting bass tracks. But the piano melody in the intro to “Found Myself” sets the tone for a somber and mellow mood. The laid back drums move the energy towards the future trap drop. The way Katie Sky’s soft voice pairs well with the subtle synths is a particular stand out for the track as well.

DirtySnatcha will be releasing a new EP soon, so keep an eye on his socials!

Rezz and PVRIS Collab “Sacrificial” is Hauntingly Beautiful

Last week Rezz teased her new track across her social media and it’s officially out! “Sacrificial” is their first collaboration, though Rezz has been a fan of PVRIS‘ music for a while. In a press release Rezz said, “When PVRIS sent over the vocal I immediately had an idea for the song. I love her music, so I’m really glad we were able to make it happen.” PVRIS says that the inspiration for the song is “risking it all for love even if the world around you is telling you it’s not right.”

PVRIS‘ soft, ghostly vocals are a perfect pair for Rezz‘ signature midtempo style. Though the wonky bass in the song has that signature Rezz flare, this track feels softer than her normal hard hitting tone. This more gentle touch creates an eerie but beautiful foil to PVRIS‘ emotional lyrics and vocals.

Call It Betty White Because This Track Is HOT- Ubiquity Out Now On Sweat It Out

Nicky Night Time and Ali Love have collaborated for a hypnotizing new single “Ubiquity” feat. Breakbot. Filled with classic disco flair, funk riffs, and infectious vocals the track instantly encapsulates a dreamy dance-floor moment. Widely respected Australian producer Nicky Night Time first arrived on the scene during the height of the electro-pop wave, touring alongside the likes of Phoenix, Daft Punk, Bloc Party and more. UK singer, songwriter Ali Love first broke out with his synth-pop album Love Harder, showcasing his powerful and tasteful vocals. His versatile voice has scored him countless collaborations, appearing on record’s with Camelphat, The Chemical Brothers, Roisin Murphy, Justice, and Lee Foss. Breakbot is recognized for smash hit record “Baby I’m Yours,” scoring a mammoth 208 million streams. Since then, the producer has remixed tracks for the likes of Lizzo and Parcels.

The stars have aligned and the vibe is ubiquitous. It was a love project really and I think we felt it was a cool thing just to put out into the world between the 3 of us amigos

– Nicky Night Time

The song is an absolute summer dance party vibe. The melody is smooth like roller skating in June. The chorus is funky fresh and just makes you want to get up and groove. The soft vocals contrast with the blast of the horns. The orchestral riffs on the strings and the standout funky baseline are wonderfully nostalgic, while the housey beat gives the track a more modern flair. I triple dog dare you to listen to it without dancing. Your body won’t be able to defy the hypnotizing beat.

“Ubiquity” is out now via Sweat It Out and Music To Dance To. Put on your dancing shoes and have yourself a bedroom disco party.

Rezz Releases Powerful Remix of Grimes & i_o Violence

Grimes kicked off 2021 by releasing an electronic remix edition of her album Miss Anthropocene featuring a talented array of EDM producers including Richie Hawtin, ANNA, and Rezz. Rezz‘ contribution to the album was a dark midtempo take on collaboration track “Violence” by Grimes and late artist and friend i_o.

Two days before the release of the album Rezz took to Twitter to share her feelings on having remixed a beloved song by her late friend – “Grimes is one of my fav artists. When Garret (i_o) was making “Violence” with her, we were texting a lot during that time. he would send me updates of their song & I told him it was a repeat song for me. Very grateful to have remixed it & it be coming out officially.”

i_o & Rezz

Grimes airy vocals are contrasted by Rezz‘ signature gritty sound. The light vocals build to a powerful midtempo bass drop with a pulsing dark and cosmic energy. Rezz was able to reimagine the track to match her eerie synthy tone while still leaving enough of the original elements to pay tribute to i_o and Grimes original production.

You can check out the “Violence” remix and full Miss Anthropocene (Rave Edition) on Spotify now.

Diamonds Are Forever and So Is My Love For Latest Rad Cat Release “Diamond”.

Rad Cat has made his debut on Dim Mak’s New Noise imprint with his dark electro-pop single “Diamond” featuring singer/songwriter Gloria Kim. You may have read my prior article introducing Mexican American DJ/Producer Rad Cat and his breathtaking self release “Levitate” (if not you can check it out here). Rad Cat shifted to a darker and more emotional sound this year following a breakup. While “Levitate” was ethereal and airy, “Diamond” contrasts with ominous and crisp synths.

The song is brooding and deep. Kim’s fearless vocals pair beautifully with the effervescent glitchy synths in the drop. The song is emotional but keeps the high energy momentum Rad Cat fans are familiar with. It’s the kind of song that you can just close your eyes and get absolutely lost in.

Rad Cat & Gloria Kim

I am devastatingly in love with both of these tracks. They’ve got me feeling my feelings and I CANNOT STOP. Make sure you keep an eye on Rad Cat to see what dark magic he creates next.

Rad Cat and Armen Paul Release Stunning New Single Levitate

Christian Ariza, professionally known as “Rad Cat” is a First-Generation Mexican American DJ/Producer. He’s best known for amassing millions of streams on his tracks and official remixes alongside production/remix credits with acts including, Blackbear, Enrique Iglesias, Kevin Gates, Mike Posner, T-Pain, and more. His latest release “Levitate” featuring indie pop artist Armen Paul is a breathtaking symphony of synths that complement the airy and romantic vocals.

“Levitate” opens with airy synths that give the listener the feeling of being swept up into a moving storm. We follow the dark synths into Armen Paul’s emotional lyrics about falling head over heels in love. The chords build while Armen’s delicate vocals swell like a thunderstorm before the electric drop.

I’ve had “Levitate” on repeat for three days and I’m STILL not over how in love I am with it. Rad Cat and Armen Paul are two artists to add to your playlists ASAP.

Local Shoutout- Highlighting Charitable Members in Our Community

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” – Mr. Rogers.

There are a lot of scary things on the news right now, also online, and at the grocery store, and everywhere else it seems. In the midst of this chaos, we can still find people who are helping. We may not have festivals and shows, but that doesn’t mean that we’ve lost ourselves, nor our community. These local collectives have made it a mission to use their platform to help others. I hope that these interviews will serve to remind anyone feeling down this holiday season, to seek the light in the dark, to look for the helpers, and to remember that none of us are alone because we will always have this beautiful, wonderful, crazy community that connects us all.

EVOL Collective

Misha Pavelko & Erika Doyle of EVOL Collective:

EVOL Collective is a group of artists unified by creativity, passion and dedication. Our mission is to embrace the counter culture in our community and to create an atmosphere of love, growth & acceptance. After establishing ourselves in Chicago in 2014, we have now spread our roots to Colorado and Salt Lake City.

Tracing its origins back to the underground clubs of the late 70s and early 80s, house music first made its big breakthrough in the city of Chicago. And thus, the groundwork was laid for the genre that we all know and love today: electronic dance music. To celebrate this historic foundation and pay homage to the city that serves as its birthplace and home, EVOL Chicago was born in 2014.

In 2020, we evolved and rebranded to EVOL Collective to further unify our community across the U.S. and to continue creating an atmosphere of love, growth, and acceptance, regardless of city origin. Of course, many of us are proud of the city in which we were born, raised, or currently reside, and wish to show it off through our clothing, art & accessories. But it is our hope that we can grow our artist collective from these different cities and instead create a common thread through our unique designs and products. Check out EVOL Collective to shop our latest pins, apparel, tapestries, and more!

In December 2018, we hosted our first Annual EVOL Cares outreach event to help make sack lunches and decorate holiday cards to give to those less fortunate. We coordinated with local food pantries to drop off donated canned goods, over 300 sack lunches, and beautiful hand-written holiday cards.

In March 2020, we continued our EVOL Cares series, but due to Covid it was an online fundraising event. We donated $1 off every Facemask purchase to Feeding America to create over 1,000 meals during this month-long initiative.

We were inspired to do charity events since our company is founded on the idea of love & compassion. Even though normally, we are super busy during festival season, we try to get our EVOL Family together during the holidays in November/December to show our gratitude and continue spreading love through our community.

This holiday season, we plan on doing our third EVOL Cares event, more than likely as an online fundraising event, in order to continue to bring some holiday cheer during such a difficult time for so many families and businesses.

REPUBLIK PRESENTS

Camil Zagan of REPUBLIK PRESENTS:

Republik Presents was established in 2014 in Chicago’s underground loft and warehouse parties by C.Z. and T.P. Our mission is to provide the best electronic shows and nightlife events, customized to our attendees taste and preferences. We aim to create experiences and fulfill all customer-centric needs. Our platform involves our community, and we aim to highlight everyone in our community.

Special moments to us are those when we see people we’ve invested in continue their growth and succeed on the path of their craft, whether as a musical artist, visual artist, or fashion artist. We’ve always felt like teamwork makes the dreamwork, and a gathering of the brightest, most talented minds can reach goals together that individuals can not. This idea has always been bigger than us. What has attracted us into this scene, was PLUR. Non-ironically! Peace, love, unity, respect. We try to hold these values true and bring that wonderful sense of entering a community that welcomes all good people. That amazing feeling of gracing the stage in front of a crowd that awaits for you to take them on a journey. That grateful feeling of having your work appreciated. Everyone should feel that way, and if we can help to it, we will!

Prior to Covid, we’ve conducted food and cloth drives for people-in-need. This year, we’ve matched donations towards the American Brain Tumor Association, and produced an event where 100% of the proceeds were donated towards said charity. It is important for us to give back to our community and improve the lives of others outside of the scope of our events. We’d like to continue in 2021 by producing a Charity Gala where we assemble the finest artists to raise funds and awareness towards a TBD charity. We’d like to provide 10% of our profits from all events towards said charity as well. We will provide the option for all folks on our payroll to provide a percentage of their payment towards a charity of their choice, or of common consensus, as well.

Power Moves Music Productions

PMMP with Al Ross
Abby Eaton of Power Moves Music Productions

Power Moves Music Productions, also known as PMMP, was started a little over a year and a half ago by Abby Jo, Sam Perry, and Sean Ashby.. We started this event company to bring the bass community together in our area. We have always valued a “becoming better” mentality. We encourage growth and making “power moves” in every facet of life. We take pride in our events known as “Bass Bangers.” We love supporting local legends.

Prior to Covid, we have hosted a variety of charity events. We’ve done several canned food drives for discounted entry to our events, raising over 200 pounds of food. We have donated several hundreds of dollars, based on a percentage of tickets sold, to our local women’s shelter. During a winter show, we had a coat drive. Outside of events we’ve hosted, many members of our street team are actively volunteering to help the QC Drug Reduction Team by assisting in administering Narcan. We are looking forward to continuing to help our community once we are able to get back into our events!

PENNYWILD Stuns With New EP and Dance Pad Midi Controller

Queer choreographer, dancer, dj, and producer, PENNYWILD can now add another title to her repertoire: inventor. In collaboration with finger drumming champion Coby Ashpis, PENNYWILD has created a dance pad that converts foot movement to midi beats. Inspired by her dance background, PENNYWILD wanted a medium for producing music that more accurately fit with how she expresses herself musically. The recently released EP MIDI In Motion was conceptually derived in conjunction with her invention, the “Penny Pad,” and her concept that “movement breeds music.” Check out the Penny Pad in action –> here <–!

The EP itself is an extension of how artist PENNYWILD tells a story through dance and motion. It’s beat centric with an emphasis on a flow that lends itself for fluid movement to its listeners. The first track, “A Dancer’s World: Intro” sets the tone for the concept of the EP. The second track is my absolute favorite on the EP, “Shirley Temple” gives you beautiful summer vibes. It feels like something you’d play while dancing with your friends on a breezy Miami Beach. “Breaktime” immediately breaks it up with a bouncy track you can jack to. Any shufflers will be very excited about the following track “Footsteps”, which was released as a single under Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records. The track marries those chill summer vibes with an electric energy that has you buzzing from head to toe. The final track “Do It To Music” switches up the energy with a Nightbass synth and drum pattern. The swing of the build up and drop forces the listener to move to the magnetizing beat.

PENNYWILD is making waves with her innovative take on how one creates and responds to music. By creating her music from the movement of her “Penny Pad,” she reinvents how one thinks about the construction of production itself.

Recycle Your Rave Fits For A Cute Halloween Costume!

Written by Krysta Zelaya

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, Halloween. Pumpkins, lights, gorging yourself on candy while watching every rerun of your favorite Halloween movies. While things may be a little different this year, we can still dress up and dance around our living rooms! If you’re a last minute Halloween planner like I am, you may be finding yourself without a costume. Have no fear! Trillvo has come through with some treats! We’ve featured three awesome female ravers and their recycled rave to Halloween looks!

Ineke Sproet

EDC Las Vegas 2016 Day 2 Outfit

My name is Ineke. I’m 23 years old and I live in Houston, Texas. I’m a gogo dancer, flow artist, and shuffler. My favorite genre of music is house and techno. Oliver Heldens is my favorite artist (I actually saw him that day at EDC in 2016). My favorite EDM event I’ve ever attended was definitely Amsterdam Dance Event. I became interested in EDM around 2012 with dubstep. Once I saw the EDC movie I was instantly hooked on festivals and rave culture. I loved how it was a place for everyone to escape through music to be together, and connect through the love of music, dance, fashion, and art. Trading kandi and the random acts of kindness paired with unforgettable music moments, the production, just everything… what’s not to love?! Dressing up for events is the best part. I grew up on bratz dolls and I have a passion for fashion so I am HERE FOR IT!!!!! I love getting to support badass babes with their art and buy their beautiful creations and create my own art and slay and feel beautiful and dance and have fun. Plus being surrounded by other beautiful badass babes is so nice. One of my favorite parts of events is gagging over everyone’s outfits.

Halloween Angel (wings by Bailey Gage Art, gems by Lunautics)

The outfit I chose to recycle was debuted at EDC Las Vegas 2016. It was actually a bride outfit and I totally did myself a cheeky EDC wedding. I do remember that night of EDC had some of my most iconic memories of badass sets and moments. I recycled it for Halloween because I have been a broke girl due to the pandemic and didn’t really have the money to spend on Halloween as I always want to. I literally didn’t even decorate 😦  I basically have every piece of rave clothing I’ve ever worn so I love getting to repurpose something and wear it in a new way that no one has seen before. Gotta work with what you got. Plus my friend Bailey Gage Art who I work with occasionally, has these beautiful angel wings she makes and I was like yes yes and yes. Being a brand ambassador for Lunautics [use code INEKE at checkout ;)] I have lots of goodies I could use for Halloween looks so it was all about how can I bring these ideas to life with what I’ve got? The angel look came together first and so effortlessly. I ended up only having time to do one look for Halloween, so I’m really happy about it.

Cami

EDC Las Vegas 2019

My name is Cami and I’m 31. Originally from Bogota, Columbia, I currently live in the wonderful city of Austin, TX. I work as an HR Business Partner at a Tech company in Austin. I love anything to do with the outdoors; hiking, backpacking, camping and exploring!! My favorite EDM genre is house, specifically tech and bass house. I currently can’t get enough of Kaskade, Tchami, and Chris Lake! I’m also a huge trance and trap fan. My favorite EDM event I’ve attended is EDC Las Vegas! I’ve always enjoyed EDM, but fell completely in love with it after I attended EDC Las Vegas 2019. I’d never been to an EDM only festival and the moment I walked into the festival, I knew it was where I belonged. My favorite thing about rave culture is the community. I have made some incredible friendships from festivals and people I have met because of raves. I’ve even made friends just TALKING about EDM! PLUR is such a real thing and I love seeing how people show up for it during festivals and raves. I love dressing up for EDM events because I get to be creative. I’m an innately creative person and it’s not often that that creativity gets to shine through in my day to day job, but when I’m going to a show, from the outfit to the hair to the makeup I get to be as creative as I can be. It’s truly an outlet for that creativity and I love it.

Halloween Alien

For Halloween, I have chosen to recycle a green sequin crop top and a holographic jacket that I wore to EDC Las Vegas last year! I originally picked those items because I love anything that shimmers or is holographic, and they made me feel my best at EDC. I’ve chosen to upcycle them for Halloween because they are perfect for my alien costume! My husband and I are going to the EDM Drive In rave in San Antonio for Halloween so we are going to dress up. My Halloween look was inspired by my current obsession with UV makeup. I wanted to choose a character that would literally glow and an alien was the perfect fit. My husband is going as the Mandalorian (Baby Yoda included) so going as an alien is the perfect fit!

Christy

BassStation 2020

My name is Christy. I’m 24 and from St. Charles, Illinois. I am a business management professional with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. I have a multitude of hobbies including horseback riding, twitch gaming, modeling, and painting. I love edm. I mostly lean towards techno, grimy dubstep, and bouncy beats. I will forever have Electric Forest and EDCLV as my favorite music events. My favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Excision, and generally any musician as long as they aren’t a horrible human lol. I became interested in EDM and rave culture back in 2012 after hearing some classic edm songs like the Skrillex remix of ‘Cinema’. From there I started to go to shows like Bassnectar and Zeds Dead, but also some more underground local music spots to enjoy a wide variety of tunes. One of my favorite things about rave culture is the acceptance you feel by everyone in our community. You are able to go be yourself and escape from the world and any judgment. People are so supportive, and it really does make you feel at home. You can escape reality! You can dress up as a rave fairy, techno geek, nerd, hello kitty, the options are endless. I love to go all out and plan out my outfits because I enjoy the creative aspect. But wearing a costume isn’t required! You can go in a t-shirt, hoodie, or even pajamas and still have a great time! Do what makes you happy. That’s what it’s all about. Just make sure you are still able to head bang and ride that rail!

Halloween 2020

The accessory I will be recycling is a rhinestone captain hat. I originally wore it to a recent event- a space related show at BassStation in Waukegan, Illinois. I was inspired by all of the incredible rave princesses that I have seen who create a glittery rave captain ensemble. I wanted to recycle this hat because it is so dang cute and fits my Halloween costume!

Check out the links below to keep up with these amazing ravers!
And from me and TRILLVO to you and yours, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Add It To The Spooky Playlist. ALL OF IT. Lucii Just Slayed Halloween With Her Wicked EP.

Written by Krysta Zelaya

Lucii’s sophomore EP is anything but a sophomore slump. The Wakaan artist has released her second EPWicked just in time for her favorite holiday. The album itself was inspired by Halloween. Lucii stated in a Facebook post

“Halloween season has always inspired me ever since I was a little kid… The inspiration for this EP was drawn from Halloween, showing both the creepy and beautiful side of my favorite Holiday while putting it into something I love.. music.”

Every song on this track is an absolute MUST for your spooky playlist.

The album features Lucii’s melodic voice, eerie synths, and her signature spaceship vibes. The EP starts out with “Spell,” an entrancing song about toxic love with an airy melody and dirty drop.

Spell is followed by another love song, “Till The Day I Die” which is a beautiful tribute to Lucii’s girlfriend, Rezz (you can check out my full review of this song here). The song features Rezz’s signature wonky flair which leads perfectly into the next song, “Wonky.” This collaboration track with Point.Blank features an absolutely filthy drop perfect for head banging in your Halloween costumes. The EP closes with “Vibe,” a laid back track featuring mesmerizing synths. The entire mood of the track is being lifted up in Lucii’s spaceship and taking off towards Neptune. Lucii has successfully cultivated an otherworldly aura for the entire album.

Lucii will be playing a drive-in Halloween set 10/29 at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. For those of you that can’t make it out, you could stay at home in your costumes and headband on your couch – it’s what our alien queen Lucii would want.
