Cyclops Recordings Give Us A Big Dose In The Psychedelic Division

Cyclops Recordings BOOT CAMP – PSYCHEDELIC DIVISION was dropped early on Soundcloud, a massive 7 track release including some of the biggest names in underground sound! The full drop will happen Friday and will include 6 tracks from BOOT CAMP – HIGH KNEES HEADQUARTERS! Among the ranks of the Psychedelic Division are the likes of Chee, EAZYBAKED, MOLOKAI, Saka, Abelation, smith., G-Space, Cavemen, BLVNKSPVCE, & Kill Feed!

photo from Soundcloud

The first song on the release is a collab featuring Chee & the Commander in Chief himself; Subtronics! I’ve personally been anticipating it’s release after it was first heard in “NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL RIDDIM VOL. 4”. I remember listening to it on repeat at different volumes trying to hear the watermark “hey, this is Chee & you’re listening to Subtronics“, I just had to know who’s collab it was. Let me tell you, IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! “Point Breeze” underwent quite the upgrade since “NTWICR4”, and I am obsessed again with this hefty finished version!

“Killjoy” the second song on the Psychedelic Division release is a collaborative effort of 3, EAZYBAKED (Lostdogz), MOLOKAI (Spicy Bois), & Saka! It features a groovy bassline that is accented by a plethora of odd sounds that all come together for very well produced sounding track! I really enjoyed hearing all of their styles come together in this one!

photo from Soundcloud

Abelation (Lostdogz) murders you with his track “Killin’ Em”, the fourth track on the Psychedelic Division side. It is a nutty track full of wet sounding ripples and packed to the max with a mix of strange sounds and bass lines might literally leave you dizzy! Watch out for this is one it might be one of best Abelation drops you’ve ever heard yet!

This next track has been sweeping in popularity, getting played in conjunction with “Swing” by Savage. smith.‘s “swing” is the 5th track featured in Cyclops Recordings BOOT CAMP – PSYCHEDELIC DIVISION, it features a bass boosted bass line as well many other accenting sounds and a mean steady hitting snare.

photo from Soundcloud

The 6th track i feel a little biased to because i seem to be unavoidable impressed with G-Space and this collab with Cavemen (Towers + Hideaway) is no different. I enjoy the musicality of “On The Block” and that’s hard to say because all the musicality surrounding this track is also very impressive. Still there’s always going to be a place in my heart for sound that is both musical in a more classic sense while simultaneously a much more modern sense also; in combination with those baseline wobbles; just awesome sounding!

“Component-17” by BLVNKSPVCE come in as the 7th track featured and it feels like maybe this single could have gone in either bootcamp. It smacks you with the beeps and boops but after listening to it a few times through it’s clear why it ended up on this side of the division. The accents to the melody give it a must more extraterrestrial feel and I’m glad it’s in the Psychedelic Division where it belongs.

photo from Soundcloud

Last and most certainly not least comes the 8th track by Kill Feed, “Foolish”. This one quickly became one of my favorites because of how much i loved it’s swagger. This hard hitting track just makes you wanna move, it can’t wait to see a crowd reaction from this one! Heavy with a load of weird sounds that gets you to groove is always going to be a winning combination!

Cyclops Recordings is sure to make history this Friday with this colossal duel BOOT CAMP release. It makes me ecstatic for what this new record label has instore for the future, if you enjoyed this pre-release as much as I did be sure to give all these incredibly talented artist a follow!

POTIONS’ MAGIC LESSON

image from Soundcloud

potions is a producer from Santa Cruz, California; he is a co-founder in the multimedia aggregate LAB GROUP also founded by CharlestheFirst and Supertask. potions just uploaded a 25 minute mix made of 14 unreleased originals, 2 collaborations; 1 which features Charlesthefirst with the other featuring Tiedye Ky; and some edits & remixes.

“This year has been hell. I made a lot of these during the beginning of lockdown, before the album I am working on had much direction. I guess in some ways a lot of the solo tunes are B sides or incomplete demos but they feel special and important to me. I hope they find you all well…cant wait to share the new project with you all”

potions

I personally love “Unreleased or Incomplete Incantations & Formulae” and have listened to this mix on repeat since it dropped, I’ve been fond of potions since the creation/start of LAB GROUP. My favorite track is the last song in the mix, the collab with Tiedye Ky, “ECBWCW” an acronym for east coast boy west coast world. potions has mentioned it will “prolly get a legit release eventually.” I like the entire mix for a few reasons, first it does well highlighting and accenting the strength of potions eclectic sound with many different influences being apparent. Second, it serves as a great product of work that might’ve otherwise gone without proper appreciation, and lastly gives the listener an opportunity to better understand what’s to come or look forward to from the potions project.

image from Facebook

If you were as pleased with “Unreleased or Incomplete Incantations & Formulae” as I was, and need more potions, he also released a 5 song EP entitled They Will Never Find Me Here. Released about 7 months prior to this mix it is all complete and mastered to perfection; I think you might also enjoy, so be sure to check that out ASAP!

Don’t Delete This Mix MeSo!

Stop what you’re doing and go listen to this mix! (BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!)

Meso (aka Kevin Lee) has dropped the spicy-est mix to date, out of no where! The mix is called “Another Mix That I’ll Probably Delete . . . Enjoi.” and features quite a bit from insane VIPs of your already favorite spicy tunes (like the “Cromatose” VIP he opens with), some new tracks also featuring his spicy brethren, along with a variety of other tracks mixed in including an amazing edit of Fisher‘s “Losing it”, Denzel Curry‘s “RICKY”, “Getting some head” by Shawnna, & “Swing” by Savage.

“All these MFs been patiently waiting!” “Who Can ID em’?”

-MeSo

Without giving too much of it away, (I’ll leave the IDs for the listeners/readers to find) I want to stress the importance of listening to it sooner rather than later! MeSo has deleted every mix he’s uploaded to Soundcloud, with the exception of his most recent house mix “House mix 2” which was released about 5 months prior to “A.M.T.I.P.D. … E.”.

The mix’s comment section if filling quickly with cries and pleas for MeSo not to delete this mix, as well other funny comments like “halfway through this & I’m wanting to throw hands at the next MF that looks at me sideways”. It’s clear young Kevin Lee has done something special again, as i previously wrote before the man released the album of year “Fantasy” & may have also just dropped the mix of the year; you absolutely must go listen & fast!

If you’re looking for a way to suppose this Spicy Bois mission, you’re in luck! Spicy Bois have recently reopened with online store with all new products better than ever before featuring, masks, hoodies, blankets, dresses, pants, shorts, leggings, & even a small fanny they call a “hot pocket! It’s a lot of really well designed products that would make incredible gifts, be sure to use the PROMOCODE “SPICY” for 15% off your entire order!

MeSo has also been offering: “Ableton / Fl lessons. Will go over any topics/questions you have. $50 for a session. Hit the dms” so if that’s something you’re interested I strongly encourage reaching out to him & getting that worked out!

Get Stuffed With TVBOO’s New Mix

TVBOO drops his second annual Thanksgiving Mix, Stuff Me Vol. II and boy did he stuff it to the max! To help promote this new mix CRAWDADDY had a handful of his closest haters come and tell you how bad this mix is before hand, an impressive bunch the likes including Wreckno, Dirt Monkey, Peekaboo, Bawldy, Sfam, & BUKU who seemed to have the crowd favorite with “MY BOI CAN’T READ!”

TVBOO does more than just stringing together clips of his friends for promotion, he also samples the audio from them to watermark the mix throughout! Masterfully mixing a variety of his own music as well as many of the aforementioned artists and friends involved with the watermark/promo vids; TVBOO also includes many classics of a wide variety including a Kid Cudi remix, a “WAP” edit/double, “Bartender” – T-Pain ft Akon, “Halo” – Beyonce, “Drown” – Bring me the Horizon, & “Losing my mind” – Falling in Reverse as well as many others.

“I like that, but can you make it more wonky? YESSIR!”

From Tvboo’s Facebook page

This thing is bound to become an instant Thanksgiving classic for the family to gather around each year.  Nothing says family gathering like some stuffing, mac and cheese, and some wonky wubs.  TVBOO has been really hitting the scene with a force in the last few years and has no signs of slowing down.  From his humble beginnings of the gulf south, he has risen to prominence to play on some massive stages and venues.  Paired along with his podcast, TVLKS with TVBOO, this Mississippi boy is touching on all the right notes to gain a long-lasting presence in the industry.

“TVBOO SUCKS” – sfam

“No, he really does suck and this mix blows.” – Dirt Monkey

This mix hits nicely with a seamless blend of trap, wook noises, and a dash of emo; because what mix wouldn’t be complete without emo?  Peppered in are TVBOO’s signature weirdness and some lovely messages from his friends in the industry such as Champagne Drip, Boogie T, DMVU, and many more. Slap on the stretchy pants, throw on your bib, and dig into this fat mix.  It’s not only filling and satisfying, but it’ll leave you wanting seconds.

Where The Heck Are All The Pickles?

PKLESTOCK 2 took place in celebration of Alberto Alfaro (PKLE) being in remission and cancer free 1 year! The heavy curated event was held at BAUHAUS & hosted by Underground Syndicate x Bass Mafia on Sat. Nov 21st, 2020

BAUHAUS has only been around maybe a year & a 1/2, so allow me to set the scene for those that have never been. BAUHAUS is in downtown Houston on the southeast catty corner of the Toyota Center. The venue is 2 floors, both neatly decorated giving an upscale feel while maintaining comfort with cute & comfy seating throughout both floors. The sound is pretty well balanced with upstairs just a tad more intense, with more than enough sound to swallow the dance floor. (Don’t forget your earplugs!) There are bars on both floors that sell food (see menu) as well as both female and male RRs on each floor. Someone I was sitting with had the barbacoa burrito, which after demolishing would definitely recommend to a friend! Both floors have patio access with an expanded 1st floor that features a stage for entertainment while you’re outside under the stars. The venue itself is currently surrounded by construction but there was free grass parking across the street when I went.

photo from BAUHAUS facebook page

I’d like to preface this next paragraph by saying I did not get to mention all the talented people that performed. Everyone seemed great and contributed to the event’s success as a whole. (especially the talented GO-GOs, the Bauhaus Babes) Here are some of the notes I did take though:

Dj ALFRED (htx) played a very enjoyable House set on the second floor. I had fun to all the cool boots & cats; thanks! I also got to listen to maybe 1/2 of NOTIC‘s upbeat Dnb selections. It was around this time I start to see people let loose a bit! Following NOTIC, LUCKI JUNGLETTE took the first floor stage and played an awesome feel good dnb set. Both myself and the crowd seemed to enjoy it quite a bit! Awhile after that, BAUHAUS started to fill in & had the front area skanking! I go back upstairs to DISTRIX playing a heart thumping Hardstyle set, to a now filled room. You could feel the crowd, the floor, & the bass shaking in unison! Following that, the top floor becomes host to some epic versus sets, while the bottom keeps the dnb rockin’. The night begins to come to a close as the last dnb artist playing takes the stage to a very welcoming crowd : CHAMBERS. This set is the one I was most excited for as I’d seen Garrett Nelson perform a few times before in various cities around Texas. Without saying too much, he very much exceeded expectations, if you get the chance to catch one of his sets, definitely do so. TR3 MC’d during his set which added nice hype energy to his performance. About an hour later the last upstairs DJ took stage and ARIEZ kept the late night people groovin’ in what I can safely call the most diverse set I heard that night!

In closing, I want to give an honorable mention to the patio Djs, (ANDRE PATINO & ELIJAH PRICE) who kept it at steady house bounce vibes. Both MCs who added their own flavor to all the dnb on the first floor the whole night (TR3 & TYGREENO) Another S/O to UNDERGROUND SYNDICATE & BASS MAFIA for another awesome annual celebration of PKLE being CANCER FREE a full YEAR! And last but definitely not least, a tip of the hat to BAUHAUS for being such a nice place!

BADKLAAT STRIKES BACK WITH BLUNT FORCE!

The Blunt Force EP is the 23rd official release from the UK producer BADKLAAT since his start in 2010, it was released November 20, 2020 on Never Say Die: Black Label. The EP features 4 tracks that smack, “Blunt Force,” “Automatic,” “MK5 Missle,” & “Bruise Up.”

BADKLAAT bangs out the first track “Blunt Force” with a heavy hitting bass line you’ve come to expect from this brilliant producer but more epic than ever! This track was an early release that premiered with EDM Identity. I really enjoyed the build up before both drops, almost setting the scene for the rest of the EP.

The second song in the EP is “Automatic,” which is much more groovy in the first drop before switching the flow up into some awe inspiring DNB in the second drop. This ones was an early release premiere with FUXWITIT; it’s sure to get you moving and is a wonderful testament to BADKLAAT’s diversity!

BADKLAAT then sends the listener back into a war zone with “MK5 Missile,” the 3rd track on the Blunt Force EP. This is is definitely that more explosive riddim track you were hoping for, I can’t wait to hear it played out LIVE…eventually.

To close the EP BADKLAAT hits you in all the right places in “Bruise up,” this halftime banger is sure to be instant classic featuring many elements we’ve come to love from BADKLAAT with a few new ones too; all while tying the rest of the EP together to finish it.

ONHELL’s chill sad beats mix

written by B

If you are like me, you might have found yourself in a lingering gloomy feeling lately. There is just so much going on lately that seasonal depressies seem to be coming early, in an already hectic year. It’s been difficult to feel comfortable listening to music simply because a lot of it seems so out of place with live music at a stand still. If you find yourself feeling the light at the end of the tunnel seems extremely dim, this mix might be for you.

Photo from ONHELL Facebook

ONHELL‘s latest mix entitled “ONHELL‘s chill sad beats mix” is about 56 minutes long [all unreleased originals] and even though it might not be in the name, there are a lot of Halloween/Dia De Los Muertos elements. From the spoopy vibes in the beginning while ONHELL introduces the mix, to remembering and paying homage to artists who have passed like Lil Peep & XXXtentacion, those elements are truly felt.

This mix is packed full of music and sounds to just vibe to, it is so relieving and soothing to listen to while reading or studying. A few of my favorite parts have to be the “Love Galore” – SZA & “Roll in Peace” – Kodak Black samples but that “Misery Businesss” – Paramore part will always pull a heart string. If you’re into chill music then you’ve gotta give it a listen.

ONHELL has been keeping busy this quarant-season with a series of live streams & weekly beat roasts Tuesdays on his Twitch channel featuring some of his friends like, ESSEKS, FREDDY TODD, & ANNA MORGAN! When he’s not roasting beats, he’s roasting peppers! Having recently cooked his 2nd batch of salsa that sold out in 3 minutes. (which was too fast for me to snag a jar; AGAIN) He decided to host a best worst beat contest with EASTGHOST & Of The Trees with the winner to receive a jar from this sacred second batch!

If you haven’t had ONHELL on your radar, here’s your much needed reminder! The man makes tons of great content, Thanks ONHELL! (it’s always helped cheer me up)

REFRACTIONS – MIZE

Written by B

It’s been about a week since MIZE released his latest mixtape REFRACTIONS which is currently over 31k plays for his 47 minute & 18 second masterpiece. With 5k likes, 750+ reposts, 450 comments and plenty of articles written it’s clear Ian has a lot of people talking, here’s why MIZE is making much more than just a little noise.

Algalon The Observer

“You can’t come close, you don’t even know I’m the GOAT…”

The mix was released on October 7th, 2020 which is the second anniversary of the passing of Mac Miller. Ian pays homage to Mac by playing a sample of “Jet Fuel” in his intro, following the quote from Algalon The Observer (a Constellar character from World of Warcraft).

RIP Mac Miller

In what many have accepted as the mixtape of the year is 15 unreleased IDs, 5 of which are collabs featuring Computa, Matheny, SFAM, Psyoctave, & Conrank. All the while firing with over 20 acapellas and samples from his arsenal he’s become known for. It’s really neat people are using the familiar music to identify their favorite parts of the mix to navigate an unknown sea of IDs. After a quick tally from his twitter page and The Mize Manor most people agree on the “Grind With Me – Pretty Ricky” mashup being THE favorite. But in close proximity are “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy,” “Best I Ever Had,” and the Gorilla Zoe mash ups.

from MIZE twitter

“Wetness all around me, true, but I’m no island
peninsula maybe
It makes no sense, I know crazy…”

Picking favorites is hard though because the entire thing is great start to finish. For many it’s the sound accents speckled throughout the mix, like the MIZE signature during the “It’s Going Down,” his ID playing through after “My Car Go…” during the “Riding Rims – Dem Franchize Boyz” mashup, or the imessage bloop. It’s also hard to pick a favorite because of the incredible ID’s that play without acapellas at all like the SFAM collab around 21:14 and a few other places in the mix. It’s all impressively very thoughtfully placed sound production.

For me it’s the sexual tension between Mariah Carey‘s “So Lonely” followed by “Freaky Gurl” by Gucci Mane that’s something sure to make some ladies act UP, the DAMN son where’d you find this sample wedged into “Jigglin – Ying Yang Twins

The mix comes to a fitting end with an acapella of “Turn On The Lights – Future” that feels very symbolic for the end of his performance. Most of us have this mix on repeat but if you need more he’s added this mix to a playlist with 6 other all mixes totaling more than 4 1/2 hours showcasing his progression since 2017!

Written By B

This article comes to you as Vide of Lost Dogz Co has reached 10,000 followers on Soundcloud! Congrats! In Addition to this accomplishment he’s given us all a fresh new mix, so help us celebrate this accomplishment!

“It is a mix that’s mainly just my music, including 9 unreleased from myself; it also includes unreleased from Abelation, Saka, Untitled, Easybaked, Siska, Mindset, & Sumthin Sumthin..”

His 10k mix is out now on Soundcloud, but was premiered as his set for Dubday NYC 3 Year Anniversary which featured VJ Actualize. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in maybe you’ll get lucky and get to watch it over at their twitch channel!

From Vide’s Twitter

This mix is interesting and skillful throughout, it perfectly showcases to the listener a wide variety of Vide’s own music, some of the talents of a few members of Lost Dogz Co, as well as the even larger collective of people he’s lucky enough to call his friends. There are 25 different artists featured in this mix, eight of which are from Lost Dogz Co. Of 21 of the 34 songs in the track list, Vide had a part in producing, and that’s impressive! This mix is an absolute MUST listen & I encourage everyone to find the time to listen!
