Get Your “Stank Face” Ready for this New EP From Yewz – Out Now On Electric Hawk

2021 has been an astronomical year so far for music. Artists new and old are coming out with some of their best works of art, and it’s only February. Up and coming bass artist Yewz is no exception. Based out of Mesa, Arizona, producer Chase March has been working to solidify his space in the bass world. And he does exactly that with this 3 track-EP.  A flawlessly sculpted ~10 minutes of wonky bliss. Named perfectly, Stank Face is the bass lover’s dream. From the moment you press play the bouncy sounds pump through you almost slapping you in the face with the stank.

Title track “Stank Face” premiered earlier on Thursday, and is a distorted paradise of sounds. Liquid sounding bass that hits every beat in just the right spot with hyping vocals to keep your energy up and Stank Face alive through the entire track.

Yewz hits so many different angles on this EP while still maintaining that “stank-y” bass energy all the way through. We hear features from Lowkea on “One, Two” and “Creator” who helps Yewz attack these different angles. The upbeat and perfectly flowing lyrics tie this project together in a direction I didn’t see coming.

Yewz Twitter

“The road to this EP has felt like an endless journey. I probably wrote 3 different EPs worth of music before the Stank Face EP really came together, mostly because I was trying to find a good balance between making crazy sounds and making music that makes you want to party. I actually met Lowkea on Runescape, and after that our collaborations just fell into place. Hearing his insane flow and lyrics over the beats I sent him was like flipping a switch; I just instantly knew those songs fit. As for the title track, well.. it’s meant to be pretty self explanatory. The Stank Face EP is my first stop on my journey of making music of all kinds, and I can’t wait to share it with you.”

Yewz

Yewz seems to have a lot up his sleeve, and this EP with Electric Hawk was just our first taste. This bass prodigy is an artist to watch, we’re very excited to hear how Yewz follows up this EP.

LEOTRIX TAKES HIS SOUND TO NEW HEIGHTS WITH NEW “ROUND III” EP

Australia based experimental bass producer LEOTRIX, starts the year off strong with his “Round III EP” out now on Never Say Die: Black Label. A journey through genres, Leotrix gives us a look at where bass music is headed in 2021 and gifts us with some of the best music I’ve heard from the label so far this year. (lol) Taking the futuristic and funky sound he is known and loved for to new heights, each track on this EP is a masterful blend of genres and sounds coming from the mind of one of the most influential producers in the scene right now.

Photo taken from Leotrix’s Facebook page.

Featuring an epic collaboration from Black Label alumni AWEMINUS, ‘Cheque This Out’ showcases two of the most promising artists on their roster and gives them a moment to show us what the duo is capable of together. Combining elements of both artists signature sounds to create a grimey, bass-heavy track that’s sure to hypnotize. LEOTRIX shines best on his own in my opinion, when allowed to fully express himself creatively the guy is indisputably unmatched in his flow and sound design. My personal favorite track from the EP proves this point I think, ‘Endless Pain’ is without a doubt one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Blending the best elements of everything you’ve come to expect from his sound in what can be called nothing less than a magnum opus, the track is truly a masterpiece.

BRUER Gets “Nasty” With Single From Upcoming EP

Talk about kicking off 2021 with some crazy Bass vibes! BRUER is here to introduce us to his newest single, “Nasty,” which is included in his upcoming debut EP Mind Flay. Hailing all the way from the Mile High City, known by many as the Bass capital, Denver-based producer BRUER ,aka Will Mayer, sets his sights on taking the dance scene by storm with his freeform sound and unique style. After moving around from place to place, Mayer found himself in L.A. at age 18. After growing up listening to various styles of dance music such as Happy Hardcore to Trance, it further fueled Mayer to create a sound all his own. After enrolling at ICON Collective, BRUER took inspiration from some of his favorite names in music, including artists such as Slander, Linkin Park and even Red Hot Chili Peppers. Now with his unique mixture of experimental and freeform Bass, as well as Future Bass, we are treated to BRUER’s newest single, “Nasty.”

“Nasty” gives off the exact vibes you’d imagine from a track with a name such. It’s gritty, has attitude and doesn’t let up with it’s use of percussive elements. This track has got some merciless 808s along with some weirdly satisfying harmonies that is sure to keep you locked in for the ride. If you’re looking to fall into the realm of freeform Bass goodness, then let this be your secret oasis. This track is just a small taste of what you can expect when BRUER’s EP drops later this month. Speaking of which, here’s what he had to say about the upcoming EP.

“The ‘Mind Flay’ EP is a rebirth of my sound and identity as BRUER. I wanted to evolve as an artist and make a statement. I had made a lot of this heavy melodic bass stuff but I had never done anything quite like this before. This felt new and exciting to me. It felt different. Producing music has always been about having fun and I felt the need to expand. This is the first chapter to that story.” – BRUER

Saint Chris Gives Us His Debut Single “Love Of My Life”

2020 has been a breakout year for new music and artists in the EDM industry, people have had more time than ever this year to get creative and embrace their inner artist. One such person is the Austin-based bass music producer Saint Chris, who gave us his debut single this week, “Love Of My Life”. After a rebrand back in 2018, Saint Chris (used to be C4) opened his mind more passed the normal “club DJ” route and began to truly find his sound as a producer.

A beautiful and psychedelic journey, reminiscent of some of the early years of some of my favorite Wakaan artists. Those of you that know me know I am a headbanger through and through, I like the heavy stuff, and while this track isn’t exactly something I would normally listen to, I have to say that the beautiful melodies and deep basses here are absolutely entrancing. The track starts off with some powerful vocals and strong vibes, ushering in the drop which is full of the basses and deep dub vibes that we crave, while the soundscapes and atmospheres carry us all the way through to the end of the track.

You can listen to Saint Chris‘s debut single below, and be sure to follow them for more music if you like what you hear!

MARAUDA Gives Us Earth-Shattering Vibes With New Single

MARAUDA is here once again to give us some absolutely filthy bass that will surely set your soul ablaze. The Australian Dubstep producer just keeps up his hot streak with the fiery new track known as “Avoidable Cause,” which just recently released under Malignant Music. It’s full of intense transitions and shifting soundscapes that will surely rumble any landscape you’re standing on if played on a good sound system. The track itself starts off very abruptly, before quickly building up into the first bass face-inducing drop. A flurry of different sounds, screeches and more make their booming presence known. But it’s where the second drop comes in that really cranks up the filth level. This drop hits you HARD! It’s pulse pounding Dubstep at it’s craziest, and doesn’t cease to stop being as wild as it can possibly be. Whether you knew him as Mastodon before, or are just discovering him as MARAUDA now, we can positively say that he’s surely beginning to make the MARAUDA brand even more well known than ever before.

Oddprophet and Vulgatron “Flex” On Us All With Newest Release

Tobias Lunghi, aka Oddprophet, has been spending his quarantine time crafting some of the biggest bangers of the year. His track “Dissociation” is making waves in the bass music community, released alongside NSD: Black Label‘s XL 7 compilation LP, it’s arguably the best track on that entire album. Now, he’s teamed up with Vulgatron to give us his best song yet.

“Flex ft. Vulgatron” is a monument to Oddprophet‘s sound, a huge atmospheric intro transitions into a massive verse from Vulgatron, carrying the energy of Oddprophet‘s melodies perfectly into the drop. These two pair together so well, their last collaboration together, “Blind” is still one of my favorite songs to this day, and “Flex” takes it to the next level. Oddprophet‘s synths and basses are iconic at this point in his career, and his flow is absolutely insane, this is undoubtedly one of the biggest tracks of the year. You can check out the whole track below, or find it on most streaming platforms today! Be sure to check out some of our other amazing articles while you listen, and don’t forget to follow Oddprophet and Never Say Die for more massive releases!

HOT AND NEW: NOVEMBER 2020

Electronic music is full of new and rising talent, every day brings us new music and new artists, each with their own level of passion and creativity that they bring to the table. The tools needed to make radio quality music are more accessible than ever in 2020, and it has given way to many rising stars and overnight sensations, giving so many an opportunity to have their creative voice heard. Artists go from making music in their bedroom to playing for thousands of people seemingly overnight from our perspective, but the process is actually extremely long and arduous. This new monthly series of mine aims to help artists overcome some of these obstacles. Welcome to my “NEW AND HOT LIST“, a monthly series in which I highlight some of my favorite and most overlooked artists in bass music and EDM each month, hopefully giving a spotlight to artists who may get lost in the sea of music that gets released on a weekly basis in our scene. These artists deserve to be heard.

With that being said I’d like to kick things off with the first artist of my new series:

SCAFETTA

Dave Scafetta of Buffalo, New York has been a name that I have been seeing more and more all of 2020. With a steady stream of new releases, gaining support from some of the biggest acts in EDM, and having his tracks played at events all over the country, it’s no wonder that SCAFETTA has been gaining a reputation for himself in the underground bass music scene. His tracks regularly top the soundcloud EDM charts, most recently his new single “Save Me From Myself” hit the top 10 inside of a week of its release. SCAFETTA will no doubt be a staple name in the bass music scene in no time.

AKIRA KHAN

Second on this list is the madman Akira Khan. With a creative flow that is quite frankly unmatched in hybrid trap, Akira Khan is consistently putting out new and original music, this year alone having released 2 full-length LPs, “Hephaestus” and “A Message From The Underground”, as well as several EPs, most recently his “A Journey To The End” EP. Every track this 15-year-old(!!) Australian producer puts out is completely insane, from the mind of a madman himself. We will no doubt be hearing from this up and comer for years to come.

JVMPSKARE

The underground dubstep scene is flourishing with talent, and this next guy is no exception. JVMPSKARE‘s unique take on melodic bass music is reminiscent of some of my favorite Halcyon releases so far. The sound design and melodies are nothing short of professional and this rising artist deserves much more recognition than he gets. His most recent release, the Animus EP, is out now via The Goblins Lair, a young underground bass music collective who’s just getting their start in the scene.

Soundcloud | Facebook

As you can see, there is no shortage of talent for us to spotlight here. With thousands of people picking up and installing programs like Ableton and Fruity Loops for the first time each and every day, there is a constant flow of new and rising talent for us to showcase, and I plan to continue to give these unnoticed artists a platform on which to be discovered. Be sure to check back next month for my next edition, and don’t forget to follow these guys and stay on top of their upcoming releases! I have no doubt these will be names we will be hearing for years to come.

Halcyon Presents: AUTOMHATE – EGO STREAM

Written by Corey Zielke

Up and coming Italian bass music producer Automhate has given us a number of successful releases this year. His Terminhate EP dropped on Disciple Round Table back in May of this year, to much acclaim, gaining support from some of the biggest artists in the scene. Now, finding his home amongst the titans of experimental bass music and melodic riddim, Automhate makes his Halcyon debut with EGO STREAM, a 5 track EP that solidifies his place as a rising star in melodic bass music.

From start to finish, the EP is a journey through intricate melodies and exotic sound design. My personal favorite track from the EP, “MOTION – E,” perfectly captures everything this new and rising genre is about. Powerful melodies and driving basses keep the vibes strong throughout the entire track, it’s an absolute banger, reminiscent of some of the best tracks the genre has to offer.

EGO STREAM offers a full pilgrimage through the bass music multiverse, launching into the future even with the fan favorite “Tonal Riddim.” The track hooks you in immediately with its mysterious vibes before warping you right into some filthy mind bending tones. Automate certainly delivers with his Halcyon debut, showing us all that he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to experimental bass music.

You can stream the whole EP below, or find it available on most streaming platforms. Be sure to follow Automhate and Halcyon for more incredible bass music and check out some of our other amazing articles while you listen to the EP!

Transcend Through the “Desert” with Oli and Hallucinate

Written By: Blue

Just because festival season was canceled this year doesn’t mean we don’t get some epic bass anthems. The duo of Oli and Hallucinate take us on a journey through time and bass in their latest collab, “Desert,” released via Electric Hawk’s NEST. These Florida boys ain’t messing around when it comes to that deep deep. Combining the lurid and deep sounds of the deep dubstep world with the wooktastic wubbs we have all come to love, this dynamic duo brings the heat with this track.

Hallucinate – Photo Credit Hallucinate Team

They take you on a trip through windswept dunes of sound that leads to an oasis of bass in this one. A hard hitting reese bass that pumps through the track is the perfect guide through the haunting and ephemeral vocal leads. For me, its that hard edge around a layer of softness that makes this track really pop. Leading into the B section, it completely drops all hints of that softness from the beginning of the song. It immediately slams into you with that pulsating bass that fans of deep dub all love so much and brings back the haunting vocals to wrap it all up nicely.

“The inspiration was lost and found throughout the last year while producing this one. The artists took turns tweaking different things they didn’t want to keep, which in the end became useful. The both of them spent countless hours, not just on “Desert,” but working on their signature sounds. In time, this solidified the direction they wanted to take with the production which gives fans the finished project we now have today.”

Electric Hawk has been pumping out some amazing content this year between their virtual festivals, live stream sets, and releases like “Desert.” We here at Trillvo are pumped to see what kinds of things they come up with next. Especially with the duo of Hallucinate and Oli on their roster.
